Description: This grass is mostly evergreen and has broad, shiny, puckered leaves. It grows 8-10 inches tall and wide. Non-showy purple or brown seed heads develop in the late spring or early summer. This plant makes a nice ground cover in moist, richly soiled shady gardens. Native Americans once used this grass as a charm to ward off snakes and also as a topical treatment for snake bites. |
